I think many guys will love the natural look of the hemp. Depending on your preferences, you can create balls of any size and color. If making string lamps using balloons, you will get oval lamp shades; If making string lamps using balls, you will get perfectly round lamp shades. It’s not as difficult as it seems. You might even be able to make one yourself if you follow the instructions.
What needed:
- Bouncy balls of various sizes
- Clear drying craft glue (about 1 bottle per ball)
- Hemp string 20 lb. weight
- Estimated amounts needed:
- 16 inch diameter ball—400 yards
- 14 inch diameter ball—300 yards
- 9 inch diameter ball—100 yards
- Permanent marker
- Ball inflating needle or small stick
- Light fixture and hardware
How to do:
First step is to dilute the glue with water and mix the thread in it. You also need disposable gloves to protect your hands. Once you inflate the balloon, pull the thread a little bit out of the glue container and wrap it around the balloon without a specific model. Keep on wrapping it around until you get the shape you like. After that, you need to leave it for a few hours to dry. After the thread has been hardened, pop the balloon and remove it.
